Impulse Beijing started on October 2015, we focus on several ways of fighting HIV, online and offline events. Promoting and free testing on site during our events is one of our main assets. We offer a safe environment for gay people to have fun and get tested.
By October 2016, there were a total of 21,886 HIV infected and AIDS patients in Beijing, 66.03 % being MSM. Homosexuality is still considered taboo, and the lack of acceptance of gays is the greatest problem to contain the HIV epidemic, so fighting against discrimination is also very important in our city.
Sexual transmission accounts for 94 per cent of HIV infections.
